On Wednesday we took Riley to the Doctor's Office to evaluate his jaundice and get circumcised. They went over the information about the risks with circumcision before they did it. One thing they said was that there was a very slight chance that it would bleed lightly, but just to wrap it tightly and it should stop after 5 minutes. The doctor brought Riley back in the room after it was all done and said it was a clean cut and went well so there shouldn't be any problems. Well, Jill went into the waiting room and started feeding Riley and looked down at his foot where he had the PKU done and blood was oozing out of his foot where the bandaid must have fallen off. She went to the desk to ask for another bandaid and looked down again and saw blood pouring out of his diaper and said "I think I'm going to need more than a bandaid. I need the Doctor."
They brought Jill and Riley back into the room and wrapped it tightly and it didn't stop the blood, so they poured this brown powder on it over and over and over again and that didn't stop the blood. It had been 20 minutes, so they called for another doctor. Jill started getting nervous when they called for yet another Doctor 45 minutes after that. They had her leave the room-most likely because she was making them nervous with 20 questions. They put 4 stitches on him which in that office had only been done once before. That also did not stop the bleeding. Jill called her brother to come administer a blessing to Riley after the doctor told her they may need to get an ambulance to take him to Primary Children's Hospital. They allowed a couple minutes for a blessing and then checked Riley right after and the bleeding finally slowed down. We were so thankful. They allowed Jill to drive him to Primary Children's to get checked by the Urologist on call. He said the bleeding had pretty much stopped and that about 1 in 8000 babies have this type of hemmorage in that area-very rare, but that everything looked fine.
It was a really scary experience for us because we thought we were going to lose him. We are grateful for the priesthood that we believe stopped the bleeding and helped him recover quickly. Everything is back to normal now and we are just waiting for the last stitches to dissolve. Thanks to everyone for their prayers on our behalf and for the help.

Oh that is so sad! Poor Riley. I'm so happy that he's ok. We still need to come see you guys!
