BILIRUBIN

Today Jill & Riley were expected to come home, as it turned out a few hours before they were to be released jaundice showed up. So Riley gets to sleep under the bililights with the cool shades on. I was reading about jaundice and it said that jaundice is more likely to occur in babies who arrive via induced labor. I was kind of surprised to learn that he had jaundice so late, I could be wrong but I thought they contracted it soon after they were born. Gavin had jaundice as well and I remember that they noticed it with him within the first 24 hours.

I wish that the nurses would have caught his jaundice earlier, it's so frustrating that this could have been taken care of earlier and Riley and Jill could be home already. Apparently one of the nurses said he was fine earlier when in fact he had jaundice.

On the brighter side of things Jill is doing so much better with this post pregnancy healing then last time. We are so greatful that a pound less made such a difference. :)

HOSPITAL

Here are some hospital pictures:

FAINTING?

Those that have had kids know that when the baby is birth there is an indescribable feeling that comes over you and you have instant love for this child. So when the baby came I almost fainted, not because of grossness, but because when the feeling came, my emotions where such that the room started going dark and buzzing came to my ears. I almost missed the spot to cut the umbilical cord! After I cut the cord, I realized I should sit down before I blacked out. The nurse gave me some fluids and it was then that I realized why I almost fainted.

Recap: Had some dentistry work done and my mouth has been sore to the point that I can't sleep that well at night, Friday night was my last day at the airport location before I go back to a regular branch, so myself and a few co-workers celebrated after work-we got off work at midnight and stayed out till 2:00 am. Then, Saturday night I could not sleep because of my sore mouth so I stayed up till 3:30 am, and woke up at 6:15 to get ready to go to the hospital and because of my mouth, I had no breakfast before we went in. The combination of all of these things was probably why I Almost Fainted.

6 things about Gavin:
1. Doesn't like his friends as much as their toys.
2. Nursery teacher tells us he eats more snack than any of the other kids every week and still wants more. That's my boy!
3. Favorite toy is his race car set from Grandma Muir for Christmas. He knows all of the characters from the movie "CARS" and wants to collect the rest of them.
4. Likes to put the hazard lights on in the car and reminds us that it means we need help.
5. Loves to look at the flowers that have bloomed in the backyard.
6. Likes to pick up bugs and play in the dirt with his dumptrucks. We want to make him a sand box this year.

BUILDING FORTS

Through the winter we had to think of new ideas to keep busy inside so we decided to build forts out of chairs, couches and blankets. Gavin likes all of his stuffed animals inside too.

GAVIN WITH GRANDPA MUIR

He had lots of fun wrestling with Grandpa Muir when they came to visit a couple of weeks ago. I think Gavin was a little too rough with Grandpa though.

WE CAN PLAY OUTSIDE AGAIN!

These are just some pictures of us playing outside now that the weather is sort of clearing up.

HOUSE PROJECTS

We've been working on a lot of different projects on the house lately. Trying to get things done before taking a break for a few months with the new baby coming. We painted the bathroom blue and are putting some bead board and trim up too. Here are some before and after pics. We are planning on finishing up the rest this week.

We are also tearing down some of the walls in our mud room/garage in long term preparation for the projects we have to do over there. We plan on turning that into a master bed and bath with a laundry room. We will have a pantry where the washer and dryer are now. Who knows when that will all be done. We pretty much have to gut the whole thing and start over since all of the electrical was done incorrectly and all the sheet rock needs to be replaced including the ceiling.

FIRE STATION

This week we took Gavin to the Fire Station. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. We had a real fireman show us around and he let Gavin pretend to drive the fire truck and the ambulance. He even got a cool fireman hat.
